Dining on Maui: Breakfast

A friend recently asked me for my favorite places to eat breakfast or brunch on Maui. It got me thinking of some of my favorites, which are listed below… Feel free to leave your favorite spot in the comments! I’ll be sure to try it next time I’m in the neighborhood!

Breakfast with a view – Kula Lodge
One of my favorite ways to spend a morning is to get up really early, take the drive up Haleakala to watch the sunrise, then drive back down to stop at Kula Lodge for breakfast. The views overlooking west and central Maui are absolutely amazing. It can get a bit chilly since they’re up at above the 3,000 ft elevation, so if I’m cold I’ll ask for a seat near the fireplace. (Yes, a working fireplace on Maui!) My favorite item is the Paniolo Steak and Eggs. Yum!

Worth the Splurge – Longhi’s
My absolute favorite special occasion breakfast is to have a mimosa along with Longhi’s famous crabcakes benedict, shown at right. Those with a sweet tooth should definitely try the Grand Marnier French Toast. Simply amazing! The original location is right on Front Street in Lahaina, or you can visit their newer outpost at the Shops at Wailea.

Comfort Food – Koho’s Bar & Grill
I’m almost hesitant to recommend Koho’s for breakfast because many people have hit or miss experiences there, but it’s always been one of my favorites so it has a special place in my heart. It’s nothing fancy, but that’s what’s comforting about it. A great place to try a loco moco if you haven’t yet!
