You really want to have a good guide when traveling the road to Hana. There is so much that you can stop and check out, that you may end up never getting all the way to Hana. And getting to Hana and checking out the places beyond it should definitely be high on your priority list. We think tip number #10 should be tip #1.

I've always wanted to travel the Road to Hana, it looks amazing, from everything I've seen. I'll have to look at this list again when I go, I wouldn't have thought to stop at stands, like #5 says. Thanks for the article!

Your phone number listed to call for updates on the road to Hana conditions and closures is a disconnected number.

Tiger sharks? Yikes! After research and writing an article on the 10 Most Shark Infested Beaches in the World, sharks really scare the daylights out of me. http://www.bootsnall.com/articles/08-10/10-most-shark-infested-beaches-world.html

Great tips to driving the road. Thank you!

My favorite spot is Honomamu Bay. It's a little tricky getting down to the water with the dirt road and all. After a rain, you may need a 4x4. It's named the "House Of Sharks" for a good reason. Even though surfers surf here in large swells, this area is packed with tigers.
