Hotels near the Hawaii Convention Center

Coming to Hawaii for a convention? Lucky you! Although some people end up with all work and no play on a working vacation, here’s hoping that you’ll get at least a little bit of free time to enjoy all the things to do in Honolulu.

The area around the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu has quite a few hotel options. The center is located at the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue, at the west side (or “Ewa end”) of Waikiki – see the bottom of this post for an interactive map of the area. It’s a great location because not only are the meeting facilities excellent, but you are literally blocks from the beach, world class shopping, great restaurants, and the excitement of Waikiki.

Below are just a few of your options for hotels nearest the Hawaii Convention Center, but you can also look for hotels elsewhere in Honolulu or Waikiki. If you’re looking for budget accommodations, you may also want to consider hostels or vacation rentals in Waikiki. You can also use the widgets at the top or bottom of this post for even more hotel and vacation package options.

Ala Moana Hotel

This popular option is literally across the street from the Convention Center and conveniently located next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, which is the world’s largest open air shopping center, as well as a hub for Oahu’s public transport system, The Bus.

Hawaii Prince Hotel

Within easy walking distance to the Hawaii Convention Center as well as Ala Moana Shopping Center, the Hawaii Prince Hotel has great views of the boat harbor as well as Ala Moana Beach Park. (Inside tip: In addition to the link below, you may want to check Hotwire for hotels in the “marina” area, as the Hawaii Prince Hotel is often one of those properties and can be had for a fraction of the price.)

Pagoda Hotel

The two-star Pagoda Hotel is a bit further from the Convention Center, the beach, and Waikiki. It is, however, convenient to the Don Quixote grocery store for stocking up on food, and some units feature kitchenettes so you can save some money by preparing some of your own meals.

See below for an interactive map of the area around the Hawaii Convention Center.

Thanks for this post about hotels close to the Convention Center. Sometimes it can be hard to tell which hotels are actually close to certain sites, but this makes it easier! I’m going on an upcoming business trip and was looking for a good hotel close to the center and it’s good to see that there are a couple of different options at different price ranges. Last time I was in Hawaii on vacation, I stayed at the Kailua Kona Hotel, which was really nice and relaxing. So I’d like to find a hotel with the same sort of resort-like vibe for this upcoming trip, but still have it be reasonably priced.

Aloha Nina! I checked our deals page for current specials and the Ala Moana hotel is listed there as of right now. However, looking at the link you provided, it definitely wouldn’t be the same “resort” type feel as the place you stayed on the Big Island. The Convention Center is right in Waikiki and land is pretty limited so there aren’t as many “resort” options in the area (except the Hilton Hawaiian Village) but even that will probably feel a bit more crowded to you. The good news though is that you will find tons of beaches in walking distance, so you might be able to save a bit on a room without resort fees, then enjoy the free parks/beaches nearby when you’re not at the convention. The Ala Moana Hotel itself may not be spectacular, but it’s the absolute closest to the convention center, prices are low, the shopping center is right next door, and right beyond that is Ala Moana Beach Park. If you have other questions, feel free to email me at hawaii@whygo.com!
