Search Hawaii hotels with up-to-date availability and book a hotel in Hawaii.
Hawaii is one of those places people dream of visiting at least once in their lifetime - a stunning network of volcanic islands that is part of the United States and yet so far removed from the mainland that you really do feel like you are in another world. The good news is that Hawaii is gorgeous. The bad news is that it is notoriously expensive. So when you are looking for a hotel in Hawaii, you will want to pay attention to a few simple things in order to make sure you get the best rate.
The single biggest factor in determining how much you will pay for a hotel room in most tourist destinations is when you travel. Most popular cities have a high season and low season with corresponding high and low prices on everything from airfare to hotels to souvenirs. Unfortunately, since Hawaii enjoys a temperate climate year-round, it does not really have the same kind of high or low seasons. Even though Hawaii is busy all the time, in general, the busier season is from December to February (because people are trying to escape winter at home!). The wetter season (during which you will experience the islands’ coolest temperatures, still only in the mid-70s F) runs from about October through March. Prices tend to be lower from April-May and again from October-November.
As in many other tourist destinations, there are all sorts of Hawaii hotels - from the opulent five-star resorts to the basic one-star motels, and everything in between. Prices will vary depending on the season you are visiting the Hawaiian islands, but in a place as popular as Hawaii there really is no low season. Still, you can avoid paying the highest prices by opting for a two- or three-star hotel instead of a four-star right on the beach. Even the Hawaii hotels with fewer stars are likely to be clean and comfortable enough for most travelers, they just might lack extras or be located a short bus ride from the area attractions.
That said, hotels with between one- and three-stars can vary greatly in terms of quality, so you are advised to read online reviews when you can and, if you are booking in person, ask to see the room before you agree to stay there. Most of the time, the only drawbacks of staying in a hotel with fewer stars will be the distance from the beach or the absence of things like a hotel swimming pool. If your budget is tight and you can live with a no-frills hotel, it is a great way to save money on your Hawaii vacation.
